The Wahler family and the Klosterhof Medingen

  • 2017

    De Niro verstirbt im Alter von 24 Jahren. Gleichzeitig erreicht die Lebendgewinnsumme seiner Nachkommen knapp 3 Millionen Euro und De Niro behauptet zum fünften Mal seinen Platz an der Spitze der Weltrangsliste der Dressurvererber.

    Der Quantensprung-Sohn Q-Sieben (Quantensprung-Fidertanz-De Niro) wird in Westfalen gekört und bezieht seiner Beschälerbox auf dem Klosterhof. Ein weiterer Quantensprung-Sohn wird bei der Körung in Neustadt/Dosse mit einer Prämie ausgezeichnet und avanciert zur Preisspitze der Auktion.

    Karajan absolviert einen überragenden 14-Tage-Test mit der Endnote 8,90 und einer 9,28 für das Springen.

    Mit dem 2. Reservesieger der Westfälischen Hauptkörung, Escalito von Escolar - Conello - Carpaccio (Bes. Gestüt Fohlenhof & Klosterhof Medingen), haben wir einen Hengst mit einem züchterisch hochinteressanten Pedigree erworben.

  • 2016

    Mit Karajan von Kannan - Verdi - Cornet Obolensky, dem Spring-Siegerhengst der westfälischen Hauptkörung, haben wir, zusammen mit dem Gestüt Fohlenhof, einen großartigen Springhengst mit internationalem Pedigree erworben.

    Alle sieben vorgestellten Söhne aus dem ersten Jahrgang von Quantensprung erhalten das Körprädikat. Drei werden in Verden zusätzlich mit einer Prämie ausgezeichnet und zu Höchstpreisen verkauft.

    De Niro steht zum vierten Mal an der Weltspitze der Dressur Vererber. Sein Sohn Desperados und Kristina Bröring-Sprehe gewinnen Einzel-Bronze und Team-Gold bei den Olymischen Spielen in Rio.

    Quantensprung won the Bronze medal at the World Championships of the Young Dressage Horses in Verden.

    Christoph Wahler and Green Mount Flight won the Silver team medal and the Bronze individual medal at the European Championships of the Young Eventers in Strzegom, Poland.

    De Niro is leading the ranking of the World Breeding Federation for Sports Horses for the third time. The overall amount of prize value of De Niro's descendants reached more than 2,400,000 Euros.

  • 2014

    An era came to an end: On January 11th, 2014, 29-year old formative stallion Caprimond has died.

    The German dressage team with Kristina Bröring-Sprehe and Desperados by De Niro–Wolkenstein II and Fabienne Lütkemeier with D'Agostino by De Niro–Shogun xx won the team Gold medal at the World Equestrian Games in Caen, Normandy.

    With Westphalian champion stallion Borsalino, the KWPN blood of former worlds best dressage stallion Jazz found his way into the Klosterhof.

    Danone managed a sensation: for the first time, a stallion provided three aspirants for the final of the Nürnberger Burgpokal. Aside from Desperados and Kathleen Keller, Danönchen and Matthias A. Rath as well as Dante Weltino and Therese Nielshagen were qualified.

  • 2013

    De Niro confirms his first place in the ranking of the World Breeding Federation for Sports Horses as best dressage stallion of the world.

    Abendtanz becomes Trakehner champion of the show jumpers.

    Homebred Flanell by Fidertanz – De Niro is licensed in Verden and crowned premium stallion.

    Elite stallion Hohenstein has to be put down after a short but severe illness on November 12th.

  • 2012

    De Niro takes the lead in the ranking of the World Breeding Federation for Sports Horses as best dressage stallion of the world.
    Six offspring of the exceptional stallion are appointed to the Olympic Games in London.
    His son Desperados and Kristina Sprehe win the Team Silver Medal.

    Renowned horse painter Klaus Philipp awarded the contract to paint a portrait of De Niro. The painting will be on the title of our stallion catalogue from now on.

  • 2011

    Danone II (by De Niro and Weltmeyer) qualifies for the final of the Nürnberger Burgpokal in Frankfurt.

    The offspring of De Niro more and more move into the limelight. In Germany alone, their lifetime winnings are more than 1,000,000 Euros.
    De Niro's son Dablino (by De Niro - Wanderbursch II) and rider Anabel Balkenhol and Desperados (by De Niro – Wolkentanz II and rider Kristina Sprehe are appointed to the Olympic Team for London 2012.

  • 2010

    De Niro is fifth in the ranking of the World Breeding Association for Sports horses.

    Dablino by De Niro-Wanderbursch wins the Bronze Medal at the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky with his rider Anabel Balkenhol.

    Christoph Wahler takes part at the European Championships of the Juniors/Eventing.

  • 2009

    In 2009, De Niro's son Dablino is most successful Grand Prix newcomer.

  • 2008

    Isabell Wahler successfully takes part in the Eventing Junior European Championships in Scotland and ranks 13th in the individual results.

    De Niro is crowned Hanoverian Stallion of the Year.

  • 2007

    De Niro's son Deveraux becomes World Champion of the Young Dressage Horses in Verden.

    Theresa Wahler wins with elite stallion Latimer the Bronze Medal at the German Championships of the Young Riders.

  • 2006

    Theresa Wahler and Ray of Light win the Team Gold medal at the European Championships of the Young Riders.

    Klosterhof based licensed stallion Danone I (by De Niro - Weltmeyer)  takes part in the final of the World Championships of the Young Dressage Horses in Verden.

  • 2003

    In 2003, Dolf-Dietram Keller and De Niro win the German Dressage Derby in Hamburg.

    The youngest members of the Wahler family commit themselves to the equestrian sport and follow in the footsteps of their father. Christoph and Isabell Wahler qualify with their ponies for the eventing competition of the “Goldene Schärpe”.

  • 2002

    The then just fourteen year old Theresa Wahler wins her first S-level dressage competitions with formative stallion Caprimond.

  • 2001

    The last Trakehner Elite Auction at the Klosterhof Medingen. Licensed stallion Distelzar is auctioned for 600,000 DM breaking all former records. For the first time, horses with Hanover and Oldenburg brand are auctioned.

    De Niro wins with rider Dolf-Dietram Keller at the German Championships of the Professional Riders and is honoured as best Grand Prix youngster.

  • 2000

    In 2000, Latimer wins the National Young Horse Championships in Warendorf with his rider Hans-Jürgen Armbrust.

  • 1999

    Hohenstein is crowned Trakehner Stallion of the Year. He proves his value in breeding in other breeding associations: His son His Highness becomes champion stallion at the Verden licensing, for example.

  • 1998

    Elite stallion Caprimond was proclaimed Trakehner Stallion of the year.

  • 1997

    In 1997, the Klosterhof invites to the first foal show.
    Nowadays the foal shows of May and June are highlights of the breeding season and with more than 150 foals at each show they are among the biggest national breeding showcases.

    The foal shows are an excellent platform for Burkhard Wahler to select the foals collection for the autumn auctions and they are a great marketplace for interested buyers.

  • 1996

    Klosterhof Medingen becomes EU-approved breeding station.

  • 1995

    The purchase of De Niro marks the beginning of the cooperation with the breeding station Böckmann and the expansion of the stallion collection to other breeding associations.

  • 1994

    At the National Mare Show in Warendorf, the family of Donauquelle from the Klosterhof becomes Champion Family of all German breeding regions.

  • 1990 bis 2001

    From 1990 until 2001, the annual Trakehner breeding association's auctions and an autumn auction take part in the auction hall at the Klosterhof which was built under the supervision of architect Ingrid Wahler.

  • 1990

    Dolf-Dietram Keller moves in with his training stable to Klosterhof Medingen, the beginning of a very successful cooperation.

  • 1987

    At the Trakehner licensing in Neumünster, Burkhard Wahler bought the vice champion Caprimond (by Karon - E.H. Mackensen).

    Soon the enormous influence of this stallion in German breeding is noticeable and he becomes the “living legend”.

  • 1986

    In 1986, Burkhard Wahler becomes German Eventing Champion with his home bred Trakehner half blood Prätorius, who turned 30 in 2005 and enjoys his retirement at the Klosterhof.

  • 1984

    Burkhard Wahler get married to the architect Ingrid Wahler birth name Meyer.

    Together they have four children:

    In 1982, Burkhard Wahler takes over the stud and follows the ideas of his father with commercial farsightedness and breeding visions.
